Brookville Market has long been more than just a place to pick up groceries or a favorite meal. It is one of those special neighborhood places that helps make Chevy Chase feel like a community—a place where neighbors run into one another, catch up, and feel connected. And now, we have an opportunity to get to know the person behind the Market's next chapter.

Drew Makar, the new owner of Brookville Market, will join us as our guest speaker for a conversation about his personal journey, his decision to leave the corporate world to become a small-business owner, and his vision for one of our neighborhood's most beloved gathering places. Drew will share what inspired him to purchase Brookville Market, what it is like to run a neighborhood business, and where he hopes to take the Market in the years ahead. Most importantly, there will be plenty of time for questions.

Because CC@H and Brookville Market are both part of—and serve—the same wonderful community, this promises to be a particularly enjoyable opportunity to gather with neighbors, learn something new, and celebrate a local family-owned business that plays such an important role in our neighborhood.

Drew grew up outside Cleveland, Ohio, before heading to St. Louis to attend Washington University, where he studied Economics and Finance. After college, he moved to Washington, D.C., to join a small consulting firm and quickly developed a fondness for the city. He later joined Oliver Wyman, where he spent 10 years working closely with the firm's CFO and managing capacity globally.

In 2018, Drew and his family settled in Martin's Additions and have since made Chevy Chase home, where they are raising their four children. In 2025, Drew made a major life change. He left the corporate world to pursue something he had long been interested in: buying and operating a small business. Drew purchased Brookville Market in September 2025. He was especially attracted to the Market's unique place in the neighborhood.
